Hire a boat to explore & go fishing
Rose Bay Aquatic Hire provides you with a simple, safe and affordable option when it is time for you to go fishing or you would like to motor around the Rose Bay harbour area. You will need a fishing licence to fish in NSW waters. These are available from 1300 369 365 . Our boat hire does not include fishing licences and we do not sell them. See our FAQS below for more information on our tinnies.
In order to hire a boat from Rose Bay Aquatic Hire your party must include at least one person who holds a current boat licence. Information on Licences can be obtained from the NSW Roads & Maritime Services website.
Minimum Hire Period is 2 hours
- 4 Hours: $150, then $30 per hour for any additional hours
- 2 Hours: $100, then $30 per hour for any additional hours
Lifejackets included in hire fee.

Boat Hire FAQs
What size are the motorboats?
They are 4.3 mtrs in length with 6 hp engines on them. They are aluminum boats/tinnies – see photos.
What is supplied with the boat?
All the standard safety equipment including oars, rowlocks, life-jackets, torches and whistles etc.
Do you supply fishing gear with the boat?
No, we do not supply fishing gear with the boat. You need to bring your own.
Maximum no. of people allowed?
4 – Max weight is 80kg each.
What are the Hire Rates?
The minimum hire period is two hours. The cost is $100 for 2 hours and $30 for each hour thereafter.
Do you offer any half day specials ?
Yes, we offer a fisherman’s special, which is $100 for four hours if you hire the boat before 9.00am. The cost is then $30 for each hour after the first four hours.
Do you take bookings?
No, we do not take bookings. You can phone us to check availability of the tinnies on the day, but generally it is first in/first served.
How many tinnies do you have in your fleet?
Are children allowed?
Yes, and children’s and adult life-jackets are supplied.
Are their any boundaries or limits where you can go?
Yes. The motorboats are restricted to the Rose Bay area.
Do the boats have cover?
No they don’t. No cover is provided on the tinnies.
Can we go to Clarke and Shark Island on the boats?
No, unfortunately you cannot moor our boats at the jetty on each island. The parks and wildlife authority that control each island will not allow it.
Can you jump of the boats and go swimming?
No, it is very dangerous! If you jump of the boat into the water unfortunately it is virtually impossible to get back into the boat. This is because the sides of the boat are so high. However you can anchor the boat at a beach and swim out from the beach.

What is the minimum age to hire the boat?
At least one person in the boat must be 18years and older and supply photo Identification.
What do I need to produce when I turn up to hire the boat?
Photo ID and to pay your hire fee and a deposit of $30.00 in advance.
